YOSEMITE CARE PACKAGE
When I moved to Yosemite to start work as a Park Ranger in 2025 I started putting together updates for friends and family back home about life in general and photos from the park. It’s filled with words, photos, and there’s even a page for some music recomendations. I send out a new every four to six weeks or so, but don’t hold me to it. If you’d like to be on the list click the button below:
We just sent out Volume VIII. The following image selects are in chronological order, starting with spring in NJ before the drive out here, to today in Yosemite National Park.
Volume I
A flower from Mel’s garden in Bloomfield, NJ, before the drive across the country.
Food Gas Die. Broken down billboard on the drive across the country, or perhaps a metafor for life. Nevada.
The Civic. Nevada.
The Civic at night. El Portal, California.
I bought my first light meter in NJ before the drive.
First view outside my window when I landed in California. What a change from New Jersey, what a pivot from New York City.
Volume II
Another long exposure.
A red Trek bike in Curry Village.
Heading up the Mist Trail.
A rainbow at Vernal Fall.
Nevada Fall and Liberty Cap from the John Muir Trail. After I looked Liberty Cap up online I saw a million photos that looked just like this. I’ve started to really think about trails and roads, and how they’re all guiding us to the same places in life, and the same epic views. Is this photo even unique? Is it worth taking up space on this page?
Nice big rock in the river beneath Vernal Fall.
Volume III
This life is all about meal prep. This life is all about the prep. From your uniform, to your lunch, to your hike after work. Always be prepping.
A Juniper Titmouse checking out the bird bath.
The woodpeckers are as nuts as they look.
My first moonbow at Lower Yosemite Fall.
VOLUME IV
A squirrel straight up mean mugging me in Curry Village.
Every time you see one of these signs in the park it means a bear was hit there at that spot. The sign at this location was eventually stolen.
A scrub jay.
A dragonfly.
An Edith’s Copper.
VOLUME V
Valley road. I also like to call this spot, Tunnel Leaf. It’s pretty awesome to get to this point of the loop. I’m always tempted to pull off into the pull out on the left, and try to take another photo. It’s surprisingly difficult to replicate the same feeling you get while driving in a picture standing from the road.
The mist trail at 2am underneath a full moon.
A moonbow at Vernal Fall.
VOLUME VI
Riverbeds of rock and stone.
Curve on Southside Drive.
Tunnel Leaf in fall.
VOLUME VII
A hummingbird in the booth.
Frost in the meadows.
Two ravens at Glacier Point.
El Cap.
Three Brothers.
VOLUME VIII
Half Dome.
Fog in the canyon.
Waltham Molded School Chalk.
Badger Pass.
